Hosting and maintenance

To keep your site in good shape after launch, we set up and manage the server: domain and SSL settings, regular backups, tests that the backup can actually be restored, software updates and health checks. Hosting is optional; you can also publish your site on your own server.

Scope

What is included

Every project has a different scope; the quote lists each included item one by one.

Last updated:

  • Server setup and basic security settings
  • Setting up and renewing the domain, DNS and SSL certificate
  • Regular backups and restore tests; frequency and retention are written in the quote
  • Software and dependency updates
  • Health checks that watch whether the site opens and its basic functions work
  • Written setup and incident notes

Preparation

What we ask from you

  • Access to your current server or hosting account; if there is none, a decision on a new setup
  • Details of the account where the domain is registered
  • Information on which data should be kept and for how long
  • A contact person we can reach when something goes wrong

Process

With your approval at every step.

  1. 01

    Assessing the current state

We look at where and how the site is published, who has access and whether a backup exists.

  2. 02

    Setup or migration

We set up the server or move the site from the existing one, and configure the domain and SSL.

  3. 03

    Backups and monitoring

We turn on backups and health checks and test that the backup can be restored.

  4. 04

    Regular maintenance

We apply updates and leave incident notes in writing.

About the service

Why an unmaintained site becomes a problem

A website seems finished on the day it goes live, but the real problems come later: a certificate expires, a security hole is announced in a software component, the server disk fills up, an update breaks a page, or you find out that the backup you thought existed was never taken. Hosting and maintenance covers these risks with regular routines. The aim is to find the problem before your customer notices it, and to have what to do when something goes wrong written down in advance. A site can run without trouble for years and then stop on a single day with a fault nobody was prepared for; much of this work is about turning that day into an ordinary day.

What we do

  • Server and security basics: We set up the server, turn off unneeded services and restrict access.
  • Domain and SSL: We edit DNS records, install the certificate and renew it before it expires.
  • Backups: We take regular backups and regularly test that they can really be restored. Frequency and retention are written in the quote.
  • Updates: We apply software and dependency updates in a controlled way; the scope is written in the quote.
  • Health checks: We watch whether the site opens and its basic functions work. The monitoring scope is written in the quote.

We count the backup test separately for a reason: a backup you have never tried to restore is a backup whose operation has not been verified. We run the test regularly and leave the result as a written note. When a problem occurs, we first write what happened, when it started and what was affected; then we make the fix and add a measure to prevent it from happening again. We share these notes with you, so the history of your site does not live in one person's memory.

Your own server or another provider

Hosting is optional. Even if you bought your site from us, you can publish it somewhere else. If the site is already published with a provider, we review the current setup, list what is missing and take over only the parts that are needed. Access details and the domain stay with you in every case; if you want to continue with another team after handover, you do not start from scratch.

The limit of the service

We do not promise uninterrupted operation; no server can honestly guarantee that. What we offer is reducing risk with regular routines and explaining in writing what happened when a problem occurs. For systems with very high traffic or special compliance requirements, we discuss the scope separately.

What determines the price

The price depends on the type and size of the site, the expected traffic, how long backups are kept, how many sites are covered and how often maintenance requests are expected. In the quote we write hosting and maintenance as separate items; you can ask for only one. The scope of maintenance, meaning which tasks are included in the monthly service and which are quoted separately, is written clearly in the contract.

If you also want the site itself built by us, see corporate website. To review the security settings of your existing system, there is the IT consulting page.

Pricing

The price is settled in a written quote

Because it depends on the scope, we do not write this service's price on the page. Tell us what you want; we will send the scope and price line by line in writing. A quote does not commit you.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can you move the site from another place?

Yes. We first review the current setup and then move the site to the new server. We try not to take the live site offline during the move; if downtime is needed, we tell you in advance.

How long are backups kept?

The retention period is set according to the type of site and your needs, and is written in the quote.

Is there an uptime guarantee?

No. We reduce risk with health checks and regular maintenance, but we do not promise uninterrupted operation.

Who keeps the domain and access details?

You do. The domain is registered in your name, and we share server access details in writing in the handover document.

Can I ask for maintenance only?

Yes. Hosting and maintenance are separate items; you can keep the site where it is published and ask us to maintain it.

Let us send you the scope in writing.

A quote does not commit you; we settle the scope together and price it line by line.
